The Clinton Herald Monday A;pril 29, 1963 p 11 Albert H. Morrell, 80, of 710 10th Ave. S., architect who designed many public buildings in Clinton, died Sunday morning in Jane Lamb Hospital where he had been a patient since March 6. Mr. Morrell came to Clinton in 1904. He retired from his architectural business in 1954. Mr. Morrell was born April 9, 1883 in Chicago, the son of John and Elizabeth Wheldon Morrell. He was a graduate of Armour Scientific academy, Armour Institute of Technology (now the Illinois Institute of Technology) and the Art Institute. He married Margaret Johnston April 26, 1911. He was a member of Emmulation Lodge 255, AF and AM; DeMolay Consistory and Kaaba Shrine. In 1915 he was iinvested with the Knight Commander Court of Honor (KCCH); in 1945 he received the 33rd degree honorary. He also served as trustee of the Iowa Scottish Rite Educational fund. From 1904 to 1917, Mr. Morrell was affiliated with his father in architecture. They completed more than 250 commissions, including the Y.M.C.A., the Halleck Seaman residence, the City National Bank, the Wilson Building and the DeMolay Consistory and Coliseum, which were destroyed by fire in 1958. In about 1917, Morrell organized the Clinton Refrigerating Company which pioneered package mechanical refrigeration equipment, principally for butcher shops. He later spent four years in further development of refrigerating equipment and returned to architectural practice in 1927. He continued until WW II, during which time he was architect in the post engineers' office at Schick general hospital, in charge of expanding all facilities of the institution up to 2,600 bed capacity. Buildings designed by Morrell include the Kelly Mfg. Co., Riverview Stadium, Central Fire Station, Zion Luthern Church, Machael service station, Modernistic and Legionnaire club, the Christian, Trinity and First Reformed Churches of Fulton, Ill. He also designed the layout of Riverview Park. In 1949, A.H. McCann became an architectural partner with Morrell. Mr. Morrell is survived by his widow, two daughters, Miss Jean Morrell and Miss Esther Morrell at home; one son, Albert M. of Lancaster, Pa., and three grandchildren. He was preceded in deathby his parents and one sister. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bragonier-Fay funeral chapel. The Rev. Harold Putney, pastor of the Community Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. Rose Croix services will also be conducted at the funeral chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home.

The Rev. Harold Putney, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiated. Rose Croix services were conducted by Charles Ocker. Burial was in Springdale cemetery. Mrs. Chet King was the organist. Pallbearers were Harry W. Andrews, Paul T. Eastland, Carrollo F. Johnson, Frank H. Luthans, Marvin Matthiesen and Charles Ocker.
