Mrs. Darlene J. Rothbart, 90, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, January 1, 2013, on her 90th birthday, surrounded by family at Westwing Place, DeWitt, Iowa.

A Rosary will be said at 4:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, Friday, January 4, 2013. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, in Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. The Reverend Father William Kneemiller will preside with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.

She was born on New Year's Day, January 1, 1923, to Camiel and Lillian (Dierickx) Minnaert near Victor, Iowa. She graduated from the Ottumwa Heights Academy and received her teacher training at Mount Saint Clare College, Clinton, Iowa. Darlene married Lowell D. Rothbart on April 25, 1943, at Saint James Catholic Church in Toronto, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2004.

Darlene was a member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, and she was active in the Community for over 50 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 66 years. Since moving to Westwing Place, Darlene had been involved with various committees. Most dear to her heart was the clipping of coupons to assist military personnel and their families. Darlene was best known as the family historian and keeper of the books.

Surviving are sisters, Virginette Barnes of DeWitt and Yvonne Velde of Tucson, Arizona; children, Gail Votroubek of Davenport, Iowa, Dean (Pam) Rothbart of Shorewood, Illinois, Neil (Joy) Rothbart of Grand Mound, Kurt (Sharon) Rothbart of Lisbon, Iowa, and Jean (John) Lewis of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Brian, Michael, Jeffrey and Amy Votroubek, Christine Chaney and Matthew Rothbart, Cory and Jaime Rothbart, Jon, Chad, and Jodi Marlowe, Adam Rothbart, Kristen Jones and Megan Walker, and; 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Rosemary, and two grandsons, Lee and Corey.

Memorials may be designated to Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, and Westwing Place, DeWitt.
