Paul Edward Reimers, 83, of Calamus, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Genesis-East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the Funeral Home, with The Reverend Anthony Dodgers officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus, with military rites by the Magnus M. Peterson American Legion Post #466 of Calamus.

Pallbearers will be Paul and Justin Rowden, Blake Elias, Michael Jahn, Kevin Broadfoot, and Dean Youngers.

Paul was born to Edward and Blanche (St. John) Reimers on August 8, 1929, at rural Calamus, Iowa. After graduation from high school, he went on to serve in the Army during the Korean War. Paul was united in marriage to Madonna Jean Schrader on November 21, 1953, at The United Methodist Church, in Calamus, Iowa. He worked for ALCOA Davenport Works until retirement in 1992. Madonna preceded Paul in death on June 8, 2007.

Paul was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Calamus. He served as a board member for the Clinton County Landfill, and was chairman for 16 years. He was a city council member at Calamus and Mayor of Calamus, with over 20 years combined city service. Paul was also a board member of the Eastern Iowa Regional Housing Authority for 15 years. He liked to hunt deer locally and antelope, elk, and deer in the state of Wyoming. Paul was also an Indy and NASCAR racing fan.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters and their spouses, Pamela and Jerry Rowden, Columbia, Missouri, Wanda and Brian Elias, Calamus, Iowa and Lori and Marty Jahn, Charlotte, Iowa; his grandchildren, Paul and Justin Rowden, Savannah and Blake Elias and Michael and Kassidy Jahn;

In addition to his wife Madonna, Paul was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita, three granddaughters, and a sister, Eunice Wehde.
