Katharina Hoenecke, nee Kruse, was born May 27,1831, at Bentfeld, Holstein, Germany. At the age of 21 she came to America and located in Davenport. Two years she was united in marriage to Carl Hoenecke. Nine children, five sons and four daughters were born to them. One of the daughters died at the age of 16. Later they removed to Clinton County,where they resided on a farm. Her husband died in 1884. (He is buried in Ingwersen Cemetery in rural Clinton County.) Mrs. Hoenecke was sick four weeks, and died on the 16th inst. at the age of 77 years, 7months, and 20 days. She leaves five sons and three daughters, namely, Henry, Louis, Peter,Herman, Louise Hoenecke, Mrs. Anna Stamp, and Mrs. Theresa Hass. Besides she leaves 31 grandchildren, 3 brothers--Claus, jacob and Peter Kruse and a sister, Mrs. Hagge. The funeral was held from the house, Tuesday, January 19th. Interment was made in the Ingwersen Cemetery.
