Statia Welch
Miss Statia Welch died at Mercy hospital early Monday after an illness of only three weeks, aged twenty-two.

The death of this young lady is a particularly sad one. She was taken ill a few days after the death of her mother, Mrs. Bridget Welch, who was called from earth on March 11 last.

She complained of no particular allment, her whole thought appearing to be centered on her dead mother, for whom she mourned almost constantly. She grew rapidly weaker each day in spite of the best of nursing and medical care until she fell in that long sleep which knows no awakening.

Deceased was a young lady of many excellent qualities, and the announcement of her death caused sincere sorrow among her large circle of friends in this city.

Of the immediate family a brother and sister are left to mourn--William Welch, one of the efficent members of the central fire department, and Miss Minnie.

The funeral arrangements have not as yet been made, but the funeral will probably be held Wednesday morning, from St. Mary's church.
