MOSES GAGE
Died at his residence in Calamus on the 28th of March, 1874 of pneumonia, Moses Gage, Esq. age 55 years.
Deceased was born in Bedford, NH, was married to Jane Dunlap, of that place, June 3d, 1844. Three years afterwards he removed with his family to the State of Texas, where he resided for seven years. He then returned to New Hampshire, and after remaining one year, came to Iowa, since which time he has been a resident of the County, living the greater part of the time in DeWitt. His wife Jane and two daughters, Fannie and Josephine survive him, and the sympathy of the entire community is with them in this their great affliction. In the language of one of his neighbors, "the best man in the place is gone." His remains were brought to DeWitt and interred with Masonic honors in the DeWitt Cemetery, he had been a member of the order ever since his residence in Texas.
