Clinton, Iowa - Paul D. Kraciun age 81 of Clinton, died Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Oldorf & Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, IA. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 am Tuesday May 22nd at Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. Visitation will be held 4 – 7 pm Monday at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton. Casket bearers will be Dan Kascel, Erick, John, Kevin, and Chris Kraciun, and Dr. Joseph Monahan, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelley Kascel, Louis Kraciun Jr., Ken Sullivan, Dave Kraciun, Jerry and Jim Kedley. Paul was born on Oct. 26, 1930 in Clinton, IA, the son of George and Helen (Sass) Kraciun. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1948. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. Paul married Mary Lou Monahan on Oct. 23, 1954 in Clinton. He worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad as an Inspector for 37 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He especially enjoyed fishing.

Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Clinton; a daughter, Christine (Kelley) Kascel of Marion, IA; three grandchildren, Daniel, Katie, and Brooklynn Kascel of Marion, IA; a brother, Raymond (Janet) Kraciun of Clinton; two sisters, Ann Brieske of Henderson, NV and Therese (James) Luckritz of San Diego, CA; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Kraciun of Camanche; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant grandson, Jacob, three brothers, Louis and twins George and John.
