Judith Patricia Harger, 74, of Welton, Iowa died Friday morning, May 4, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Judy was born May 10, 1937, to James “Pat” and Mildred (Gentry) O’Hara in Davenport, Iowa. She attended Catholic schools in Davenport.

Judy worked as a police dispatcher in Michigan until moving to Iowa in the early 1970's. She was a cook at Maid-Rite and T.C.’s until retirement in 1998.

She was an avid Cub’s fan and enjoyed watching horse racing and dog shows. Judy was a devoted mother and grandmother, always putting her family first.

Surviving Judy are her children, Rick (Caryn) Moore of Madison, Tennessee, Michelle (Rod) King of DeWitt, Dan Harger of Susanville, California, Lori (Jeff) Jewell of DeWitt, and Sandy (Rodney) Walker of Welton; grandchildren, Jimmy (Misty) Jewell of Clinton, Jake (Kasey) King of Bellevue, Jared King and fiancée Sarah of Iowa City, Rory (Ashley) Paulsen of Grand Mound, Nicholas Jewell of DeWitt, and Bailey Walker of Welton; three great-grand children and her three beloved dogs.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in the Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Wartgow will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
