The Clinton Herald Thursday November 10, 1988 p 14 The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church for Lyle L. Cottral, 80, of 507 2nd Ave. S., who died Wednesday in his home. The Rev. Melvin D. Frahm. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Clinton Chapel, Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert E. Shumake, Ernie and Eric Jensen, Gene Spenny, Robert Clausen and Robert H. Shumake. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Woods, Ray Brown, and Irvin Wyatt. Mr. Cottral was born Nov. 27, 1907, in Sabula, to John and Mary Gray Cottral. He married Alfrieda L. Hansen, Jan. 5, 1934, in Whiteside County, Ill. He attended Clinton schools and was a 1925 graduate of Lyons High School, and a 1931 graduate of Cornell College, Mount Vernon, with a degree in chemistry. After college, Mr. Cottral sold insurance for the Prudential Insurance Company and Lutheran Mutual Insurance Company. Then later worked for the Clinton Corn Processing Company as a chemist for 20 years, retiring in 1973. After his retirment, he worked part-time at the Clausen Hardware Store. He was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church, a member of Emmulation Lodge No. 255, Scottish Rite Bodies, VFW Post No. 8486, and was veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Joan) Turner, of Clinton; three grandsons; five sister, Mrs. Robert (Thelma) Moss of Clinton, Mrs. George (Velma) Gibbs of Sun City, Calif., Muriel Carroll of Huntington Beach, Calif., Hazel Reynolds of LaCrosse, Wis., and Mrs. Merlin (Marjorie) Larson of Sun City West, Ariz.; and a brother, Earl "Pete" of Clintonj. He was preceded in death by a daughter.
