Mary Louise Rutenbeck, 89, of Clinton, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at her home in Clinton.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Max Troxel, Kevin McBride, Nate McBride, Eric Engaldo, Andrew Rutenbeck and Brandon Rutenbeck. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Mary Louise Ladehoff was born on May 8, 1922 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Sidney and Elinor (Harrison) Norburg. She was later adopted by Leona and Arthur Ladehoff. She was a 1940 graduate of Clinton High School. She attended and graduated from Mt. St. Claire in 1942. She married Allen L. Rutenbeck on October 14, 1943 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clinton; he recently died on October 22, 2011.

She taught schools first in Goose Lake and later in the Clinton Community School District for 30 years at Jefferson retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Altar and Rosary, the American Legion Auxilary, the NEA and ISEA, and CEA Genealogy of the Quad Cities, the Clinton Women’s Club, and Concerned Catholics of Clinton.

Mary Louise is survived by one son: Jim (Jan) Rutenbeck of Cordova, Illinois; two daughters: Linda Rutenbeck of Arcata, California, and Barb (Kevin) McBride of Clinton; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one sister: Joan Langan of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorials can be made to the Women’s Club or a charity of your own choice.
