Mat was born to Doug and Betty (Adams) Jess on July 27, 1978. Mat lived his adventurous youth in Camanche Iowa, living his life to the fullest...he spent every free moment fishing, hunting, camping and playing hundred's of baseball games with his two brothers and many friends. His father and paternal grandfather were happiest when sharing their passion and appreciation of the outdoors, especially the Mississippi River with Mathew and his brothers. Mat was not only an avid outdoorsman he shared the love of the Cubbies with his extended family. Mat took great pride in his motorcycle and loved the freedom his bike afforded him on the long and open roads of North Dakota. Mat's big heart and infectious smile awarded him so many friends across the country. Mat's sense of humor and his quick one-liners were appreciated by all, especially by his mother, who took great delight in his witty comments. Mat selflessness and generosity melted all of our hearts, he will be dearly missed by us all.
Mat was employed as a journeyman union pipe insulator in Bismark, ND.
Survivors include his parents, Doug and Betty Jess of Camanche; brothers, Tom (Molly) Jess (Liam and Jayton) of Camanche; and Joe (Liz) Jess (Brecken and Easton) of Marion, Iowa; his grandmother, Merlene Jess of Camanche, his North Dakota family, Matt and Sara (Cyrus, Lucea and Lennon) Hagge, and his aunts, uncles and cousins.
