Clinton, Iowa - Thomas Patrick David, age 74, of Clinton passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport. A Solemn Requiem Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite will be offered by the Rev. Scott G. Lemaster at 10:30 am Friday at St. Joseph/St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Sugar Creek, IA. Visitation will be held Thursday 3-6 pm at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton, where a 6:00 pm rosary will be recited. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton. Thomas was born on June 26, 1937, in Clinton, the son of John and Victoria (Lup) David. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1955. He married Sandy Walker on Dec. 29, 1988 in Jacksonville, IL. Thomas worked at Cobb Optical in Clinton for over 40 years; from 1989-1999 he owned and operated the business, retiring in 1999.

He was a proficient Jazz pianist and was a life member of the Local Musicians Union. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and was a very religious man, enjoying rosary and devotions.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Sandy of Clinton; two children, Laura (Thomas) Tack of Mechanicsville, MD and Jacob Thomas David of Clinton; three grandchildren, Evan, Noah, and Reilly; a brother, Daniel (Charlotte) David of Clinton; and several nieces/nephews, great and great-great nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Thomas, Jr. and Fr. Christopher David, a brother, John David, and a sister, Mary Knollman.
