Clinton, Iowa - Vera J. Tack age 92 of Clinton passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Mercy Living Center South. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 28th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. Wednesday until the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Vera’s sons and Harry Krahn.
Vera was born at home in Quincy, IL on January 1, 1920, the daughter of Edward and Grace (Young) DeViney. She married Bernard Tack on January 25, 1952 in Chicago. Bernard passed away in 2002. Vera had been employed at the Savanna Army Depot during W.W. II and later at Tanner’s Second Street Cleaners in Clinton. In her younger days she enjoyed playing softball, swimming and taking pictures with her always present Polaroid camera. The joy of her life was raising her “eight boys”! She and her husband had been members of the Loyal Order of Moose, Savanna.
Vera is survived by five sons; Kim (Kathy) Tack of Coal Valley, Jeff (Sompong) Kazakos of Killeen, TX, Chuck Tack of Valley, NB, James (Merry) Tack and Brian (Cheryl) Tack both of Clinton; 20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Louis of Libertyville, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, three sons, Gary, Steve and Gregg; two sisters, Bessie and Leila and three brothers, Charles, Stanley and Everett.
