Louise Edna Truelsen, 86, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday morning, April 12, 2012 at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
Louise was born May 12, 1925, at rural DeWitt, Iowa, to Henry and Rose (Nielsen) Schroeder. On December 18, 1945, Louise was united in marriage to Leonard Truelsen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Mound, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Low Moor area. Leonard preceded Louise in death on November 7, 1998.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. She belonged to the Clinton County Cattle Women, the Ladies Aid and Altar Guild, and the Grace Lutheran Women’s League. Louise loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved country rides and going out to eat, and at Westwing Place she was known as the Jigsaw Puzzle Lady.

Surviving are her daughters, LaVonne (Dale) Zahn of Holland, Michigan, and Ardith (Edward) Wagemester of DeWitt; son, Gaylon (Carol) Truelsen of Camanche, Iowa, and a daughter-in-law, Jean Truelsen of DeWitt; 10 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Louise was preceded in death by her son, Darold, two brothers and three sisters.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, and from 9:00 until 9:45 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Church. The Rev. Ron Rafferty will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Jay Sommers, Loren, Lance, Lonny and Leon Truelsen, and Merlyn Schocker.

Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Jolleen Ferguson, Leslie Howard, Lori Hughes, Angela Block, and Staci Hall.
