Mrs. Marie A. Will, 94, of Calamus, Iowa, died Tuesday afternoon, April 10, 2012 at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa.
Mrs. Will was born January 21, 1918 at rural Calamus, Iowa to Fred and Ella (Roseland) Pruhs. On February 21, 1939, Marie was united in marriage to Herbert R. Will in Davenport. The couple farmed from 1939 until 1947 at rural Lost Nation, and began farming at rural Calamus in 1947 until retirement. Herb preceded Marie in death on September 14, 1995.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bliedorn, where she taught Sunday School, was active in Ladies Aid and Bible studies. Marie also belonged to the Shakespearean Club. She loved cooking, gardening, fishing and playing cards.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Cindy Will of Grand Mound; grandsons and their spouses, Dareck and Nichole Will and Daniel and Megan Will all of Calamus; great-grandchildren, Dalton Will and Erica, Faith and Caden Will; a sister, Doris Griebel of DeWitt; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Herb, Marie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mildred Snyder.
Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. The Rev. Dr. Dan Olson will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus.
Pallbearers will be Dareck Will, Dan Will, Richard Kreinbring, Alan Schroeder, Les Paarmann and Roger White.
