Irene I. Costello, 93, of Clinton, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Alverno Health Care Facility.

A Funeral Mass will be 1:00pm, Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Prince of Peace Parish Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Assumption Cemetery, Charlotte. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00am to the mass time at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Irene Isabelle Toillion was born on May 18, 1918 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary (Williams) Toillion. She married Robert Costello on May 31, 1955 in Davenport; he died December 24, 1970.

Irene was a telephone operator in Eagle Grove from 1936 until moving to Davenport as a District Supervisor in 1941 until 1946. She and Bob farmed the Petersville area for many years. She later worked as a cook at the Alverno Nursing Home and then the Jackson County Hospital for 10 years.

Irene was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and also Immaculate Conception Catholic Church while living in Petersville.

Irene is survived by three sons: Joseph (wife -Kelly) Costello of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, David (wife -Vickie) Costello of Camanche, and Kenneth Costello 0f Preston and 6 grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son; Danny, one brother: Jim, and one sister: Ruth.

Memorials may be made to the Alverno.
