Delilah Denise Edwards, 59, of Clinton passed away Thursday, March 8th, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 14th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Bethel AME Church, Pastor Van Flowers will preside over the service. Visitation will occur 3 hours prior to the Funeral Service, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bethel AME Church. A subsequent Funeral Service will be held Saturday March 17th, at 12:00 p.m., at the New Angel of Faith Church in Gary, Indiana, Pastor Lorenzo Edwards will preside over the service. Visitation there will take place on Friday, March 16th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m., family hour will occur from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the New Angel of Faith Church. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery - Hobart, Indiana. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Delilah was born August 3rd, 1952 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Jimmie Sr. and Mildred (Baskin) Edwards. Delilah was a 1970 graduate of Emerson High School in Gary, Indiana.
Delilah worked for Blaw-Anox for many years.
Delilah was a faithful member of the Bethel AME Church, active as a Steward, Stewardess and was involved in the finance committee, the special programs committee, the prayer team, Bible study, Sunday school, the Sarah Harding Ministries, the Missionary Society, and especially above all she was a flower to the Pastor. She loved working with children. Additionally, she loved going for drives and dearly loved her family and friends.
Delilah is survived by two sisters - Lucille Edwards of Gary, Indiana, Louise Webb of Clinton, Iowa; 2 brothers - Jimmie Edwards Jr. of Hopkins, Minnesota, Donnell (Beverly) Edwards of Houston, Texas; two sister in-laws - Barbara Edwards of South Bend, Indiana, Millie Edwards of Gary, Indiana; a host of nieces and nephews; several God children and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Minister Minnie Pearl; 3 brothers - Willie Sr., Reverend Albert Sr., Lee Andrew and several nieces and nephews.
