Helen Marie Whitmer, 75, of DeWitt, Iowa, died late Thursday evening February 16, 2012, at Sarah Harding Home, Clinton, Iowa.

Mrs. Whitmer, the former Helen Marie Stankee was born February 9, 1937, in Wheatland, Iowa, to George and Emma (Peters) Stankee. She was united in marriage to W. Frank Whitmer, February 11, 1958, in Clinton. Helen worked for International Paper Company of Clinton, in Quality Assurance for over 30 years, retiring in January of 2000. Her husband Frank, preceded Helen in death on January 15, 1977.

Helen was an avid Chicago Cubs and NASCAR fan. She enjoyed going on bank bus trips, country music and BINGO.
Surviving are nieces and nephews including, Harold H. (Kathy) Hensch, Sheryl (Steve) Yerington, Colette (Bob) Levsen and Terry Stankee; a brother-in-law, Harold E. Hensch; a special friend, Gene Anderson; other relatives and friends.

Preceding Helen in death in addition to her husband, are her parents; an infant sister, Nadine; brothers, Cliff and Donnie and a sister, Bonnie Hensch.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. A memorial fund has been established.

Pallbearers will be Harold Hensch, Steve Yerington, Bill Batts, Nick Yerington, Jim Anderson and Patrick Kobelenske. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Kline and Gene Anderson.
