The Clinton Herald Monday January 29, 1969 p. 10 Clyde J. Fatchett, 65, retired DeWitt area farmer, died unexpectedly Sunday morning at his home. He had been in poor health for the last three years. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the McGinnis funeral home with Rev. Donald Carver of the Methodist church, officiating. Pallbearers will be Melvin Sweet, Paul Osborn, Harold Peahl, Ray Gluesing, Freelan Barber and Marvin Rittmer. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today. Clyde J. Fatchett was born Feb. 18, 1903 on a farm northeast of DeWitt, the son of John and Frances Shockey Fatchett. He married Ethel Atkinson, Feb. 5, 1930, in DeWitt and they farmed northeast of town, retiring and moving to DeWitt three years ago. He served three years with the National Guard, was a member of DeWitt lodge, A.F. and A.M., the Loyal Order of Moose and the County County Sportsmen club. He is survived by his wife; one son, William of DeWitt; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Meggers of DeWitt, and Mrs. Kennety (Marilyn) Springer of Davenport; 11 grandchildren, and one brother, Clarence of DeWitt. He was preceded by his parents and one brother.
