Robert E. Dierks, age 72, of Goose Lake, Iowa died Monday, May 12, 2003 at Mercy North Medical Center in Clinton. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church in Goose Lake. The Rev. Caroline E. Engelbrecht will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday 2-8 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton and Friday 9:30 a.m. until the service hour at the church. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan and Grant Dierks, Aaron Hoelscher, Rev. Damian Snyder, Josh Corwin, Adam Craig, Michael Higgins, and Brent Caven.
Honorary pallbearers will be Corporal Heath Dierks, Maurice Jensen and Edward Keiner.
Robert was born April 8, 1931 in Clinton, Iowa to Jerry and Alfrieda (Naeve) Dierks. He married Amy McKenrick on Sept. 23, 1951 in Clinton, Iowa. Robert farmed in rural Goose Lake for over 40 years, retiring in 1993. He was a charter member of Ascension Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Goose Lake Lions Club, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved being on the river and Beaver Island.
Robert is survived by his wife Amy of Goose Lake; two sons, Jeffrey Dierks of Goose Lake and Maurice Dierks of Davenport; three daughters, Mrs. Becky (Wayne) Gluesing of Camanche, Mrs. Elizabeth (Dr. J. Spencer) Craig of Paris, Tenn., and Mrs. Roberta (Terry) Peltier of Camanche; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donal Dierks of Clinton; a sister, Mrs. Darlene (Bruce) Bielenberg of Charlotte and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
