Donald H. Hamdorf, 92, of Clinton, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:00am to the service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Donald Henry Hamdorf was born on April 7, 1919 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Carl and Esther (Luthans) Hamdorf. He was a 1936 graduate of Wheatland High School. He then married Ethel Guenther on October 3, 1942. Don owned and operated Hamdorf Heating and Plumbing in DeWitt for 30 years. Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Western Star Masonic Lodge, Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies, and the KAABA Shrine. He enjoyed reading and having coffee with his friends. He also enjoyed his visits with his grandchildren. He was loved and admired by his family for his kindness, honesty and leadership. Don is survived by his wife: Ethel of Clinton; three sons: Dr. Kent (Sarah) Hamdorf of The Villages, Florida; Jon Hamdorf of Mystic, Connecitcut, and Barry (Barbara) Hamdorf of Carmel, Indiana; three grandchildren: Jennifer Hamdof-Torrens, Anne Cobb, and Leslie Hamdorf-Joseph; five great-grandchildren; and his sister: Frances Dosland of DeWitt, Iowa. Don was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Shriner's Hospital or the Children's Choir at First United Methodist Church.
