Wheatland Iowa, formerly of Mt. Storm and Keyser, WV.

Maxine E. Donovan, age 85, of Wheatland, Iowa, formerly Of Mt. Storm and Keyser, WV, died on August 13, 2011 at her home with family at her side. Maxine was born November 1, 1925, in Macomb, IL and raised in Aledo, IL to Lorenzo "Pete" Sproston and Dorothy (White) Sproston.

As she requested, there will be no visitation or services. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

In her early years, Maxine was a beautician. Later she moved to Naples, Florida where she sold real estate. From the mid 1970s until this past January, she lived in West Virginia, where she served as president of Grant County Homemakers Council and helped publish a cookbook. She was a member of the Mt. Storm Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. While on the mountains, she learned to paint and traveled to art shows where she sold many of her beautiful paintings. Maxine also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and a good cup of coffee.

She is survived by her grandson Terry (Brandi) Hagg of GrandMound, IA; sons Laverne McMeekan of AR, and Dennis (Margaret) MCMeekan of Palera, AL; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and her special afternoon friend Brenda Hagg.

Maxine was preceded in death by parents, son Donald McMeekan, and her brother Marvin.

Her family wishes to thank everyone who made Grandma feel at home after her move to Iowa. Special thanks to Audra with Beacon of Hope Hospice.
