Edna Eileen Goers
(August 15, 1920 - October 22, 2003)

Edna Goers, 83, Clinton, Iowa, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Wednesday morning, October 22, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton.

Edna Eileen Goers, the daughter of William and Meta (Gade) Goers, was born on a farm northeast of DeWitt on August 15, 1920. She attended and was graduated from the rural schools in the area. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt and later of Trinity Lutheran Church, in Clinton.

During her years in Clinton, she was employed at the Curtis Woodworking Company, the Burpee Seed Company and F. W. Woolworth Company, later moving back to DeWitt.

In her early years, Edna liked scrap booking and in later years, she enjoyed card games and bingo.

Her survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Byron (Mildred) Matthews, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Mrs. Ivan (Esther) Barber, DeWitt; a brother, Harry Goers, Maquoketa, Iowa, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her parents and two sisters, Wilma Knutsen and Violet Goers preceded her in death.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2003. The Rev. Keith Speaks officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.
