Rock Island Argus Saturday May 22, 1926 p 4 Funeral services for Mrs. J.L. Rice, aged 64, a resident of Rock Island 44 years ago, who died at her home in Chicago Friday morning at 3 o'clock, after an illness of several weeks will be held at the home of her sisters, the Misses Amy and Clara Coyne, 415 Nineteenth street, at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with burial in the family lot at Chippiannock cemetery. Mrs. Rice was formerly Mathilda Coyne, was born in Rock Island 65 years ago, was reared and attended the public schools, being graduated from the Rock Island high school. In 1882 she married J.L. Rice, a government architect, since retired, and in succeeding years they changed their place of residence frequently as Mr. Rice's services were required from place to place. The for last several years they resided in Chicago. Surviving her are the widower; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Mielly of Chicago, and two sisters, the Misses Amy and Clara Coyne of Rock Island. One daughter preceded her in death five years ago.
