John L. Hosette, 89, of Clinton, Iowa, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 am Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig. Burial will be in the Miles Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted. Pallbearers will be, Bill, Travis and Jay Hosette, Gary Laughlin and John and Brian Mielk.
John was born September 12, 1921 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Inez (Dawson) Hosette. He married Sadie Jepsen August 14, 1949 in Clinton, IA.
He was employed as a machine operator at Central Steel for 18 years and Alcoa for 17 years, retiring in 1983.
John was a WWII United States Army Veteran. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, AMVETS, the International Association of Machinists and Local Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union at ALCOA.
He is survived by his wife, Sadie of Clinton; two sons, Dennis (Sandy) Hosette of DeSoto, MO and Steven (LuAnne) Hosette of Clinton; two grandsons and two granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics.
