David Baker age 64 of Camanche died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the Pape Funeral Home. In following Dave’s wishes there will be no funeral services, cremation rites will be accorded with burial in the Fulton Township Cemetery at a later date.

Dave was born in Fulton on April 4, 1947, the son of Leland and Laverne (Courtwright) Baker. He attended Fulton Schools. Dave married Susan Kay Geltz on June 26, 1970 in Fulton. He was employed in the shipping department at Champion/Dairy Pak/Blue Ridge in Clinton for over 36 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club, the Fulton Country Club and the 700 Bowling Club. He was a former member of the Clinton Police Reserve. Dave was very active in sports having played softball, bowling and golf. He was an avid Hawkeye, Chicago Bear and Cub fan.

Dave is survived by a daughter, Tonia (John) Lackas of Clinton; two sons, Jason (Stephanie) Baker of Clinton and Travis (Jennifer) Baker of Camanche; eight grandchildren, Steffen, Zachery, Harmon, Nolan, Raina, Jacob, Gage and Ella; four step-grandchildren, Harley, Cambree, Kyleigh and Graycie; six brothers and sisters, Bonnie (Donald) Snyder of Sun City, AZ, Mary Jo (Donald) Manning of Clinton, Wendell Baker of Phoenix, Verlin “Lum” (Jeanie) Baker of Clinton, Paul (Linda) Baker of Sabula and Rae Ann (Terry) Gielau of Abingdon, IL.
