Orlin Dean Heppner, 82, of Clinton, passed away on April 17th, 2011 surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Friday, April 22nd, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Schropp, Josh & Matt Heppner, Travis Heppner, Dougie, Ronnie, & Mark Heppner, and Eric Bruckner. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Alex Heppner, Amanda & Ben Sullivan, Nicole Heppner, and Celia Heppner. Visitation will be Thursday, April 21st, 3:00pm with a Rose Croix service ending the visitation at 7:00pm.

Orlin Dean Heppner was born on November 1, 1928, in Norfolk, Nebraska the son of Max and Fern (Emley) Heppner. Dean married Jacqueline Decker in Norfolk, Nebraska and from their union five children were born: Arlin, Joe, Randy, Sue & Sally.

Dean was a dedicated employee of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for over 45 years. He began his railroad career as a section-hand in Norfolk, Nebraska and retired as a supervisor of the car shop in Clinton, Iowa in 1990.

Dean was a member of the Emulation Lodge #255 AF & AM, Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies, KAABA Shrine, National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees, and was instrumental in creating the railroad display at the Historical Building. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing for walleyes on the Mississippi with his brother, Doug & sons Joe & Randy. He also took great pride in his well manicured yard and the beautiful flowers that surrounded his home.

Dean is survived by three sons: Arlin Dean Heppner of New York, New York, Douglas Joe (Margaret) Heppner of Marshall, Michigan, and Randy (Denise) Heppner of Bennington, Nebraska; two daughters: Susan (Gary) Schropp of Swisher, IA, and Sally (Kerry) Bruckner of Clinton, IA; grandchildren: Chad Schropp, Joshua (Nicole) Heppner, Matt (Celia) Heppner, Travis and Alex Heppner, Amanda (Ben) Sullivan, and Eric (Mallory Simonson) Bruckner; and great-grandchildren: Drew and Nadia Heppner, Bailey, Hailey, and Wyatt Sullivan, and Noah Bruckner; three brothers: Darel (Marilyn) Heppner of Norfolk, Nebraska, Douglas (LaRonna) Heppner of Clinton, IA, and Darwin (Janice) Heppner of Norfolk, Nebraska; one sister: Ardith Payne of Hugo, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Joan Heppner, Norfolk, Nebraska and a half-brother Harold Hlad of New Jersey.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dallas, sister, Audry, brother-in laws, George Sutter & Odell Payne.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
