Clinton - Robert M. “Bob” McCloy age 87 of Clinton died Wednesday March 16, 2011 at Mercy Living Center North in Clinton. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 19th at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery with military rites by the Miles American Legion. Casket bearers will be Steve McCloy, Paul Gerlach, John McCloy, Greg Henn, Jason Jacobsen and Steve Luett.
Bob was born in Sugar Creek on December 16, 1923, the son of Orie and Anna Banowetz McCloy. He attended the Delmar schools. Bob served with the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He was with the 3rd Army, 353rd Infantry Division under General George Patton in the European Theater. Bob married Genevieve “Genie” Claseman on September 1, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Clinton. Genie died on August 6, 1996. Bob farmed his entire life on Stockwell Lane. In 1983 he received the Swiss Valley Farms award for 5 consecutive years of High Quality Milk Production. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the Miles American Legion. He enjoyed ball games, especially the Cubs and St. Mary’s and Preston basketball games. He enjoyed playing cards and attending farm sales, especially the Maquoketa cattle sales.
Bob is survived by three children; Brenda McCloy, Jane McCloy and David McCloy all of Clinton; two sisters, Mary Frondle of Sabula and Ruth (Kenneth) Gerlach of Delmar; three brothers, James (Shirley) McCloy of Maquoketa, Joseph (Madonna) McCloy of Delmar and Eugene (Arledta) McCloy of Miles and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant brother and sister and a sister, Kate Fugua. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
