Geri (Mrs. Jim) Richmond, 68, DeWitt, died Monday morning, March 14, 2011, at Trinity Bettendorf, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Geraldine Ann Wagemester was born May 17, 1942, in Clinton, Iowa, to Leo and Genevieve (Borman) Wagemester. She was a 1960 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School, DeWitt. On May 30, 1964, Geri married Nels Olson, Jr. and they were blessed with a daughter, Jo Nel. Nels preceded Geri in death on October 4, 1966. Geri was united in marriage to James P. "Jim" Richmond on October 18, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. They were blessed with 3 children, Michael, Sara, and Nicolas. Geri held a career in banking for over 25 years in DeWitt. Following retirement, Geri assisted Jim in his law office.

She was lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved her family, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. In addition to spending time with her family, Geri loved cooking, nature’s wildlife, and just spending time with Jim.

Surviving are her husband, Jim; children, Jo Nel (Donald) Boekhoff, Marion, Michael (Kelly) Richmond, Urbandale, Sara (Orlando) Harmon, Marion, Nicolas (Andrea) Richmond, Johnston; grandchildren, Austin, Samantha, and Jessica Boekhoff, Malea and Miles Harmon, Alexa Richmond, Ayla and Kyndal Richmond, and a set of twin grandsons due in May; siblings, Lenora Frost, Maquoketa, Madonna (Jim) Gannon, Delmar, Vicki (Lyle) Jaeger and Leon (Deborah) Wagemester, DeWitt, and Gloria (Walt Niles) Couture, Cheyenne, Wyoming; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Nels, Geri was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Edwin "Bud" Frost.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, with a vigil service at 8:00 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Fr. Paul Connolly will officiate. A private burial service will be held at St Joseph’s Cemetery in DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Austin Boekhoff, Greg Jaeger, Randy Davis, Dan Konrardy, David Pillers, Paul Kirby and Chuck Green.

Memorials may be directed to the MPD Foundation, Chicago, for research in polycythemia or the American Heart Association.
