Gerald E. Turner, 79, of Clinton, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus.
Funeral Services will be 1:30pm, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post#28. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Devin, Branden, Eric, Zachary, Austin, Andrew, and Madison Turner. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Mike Kremer. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30am to the service time at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Gerald Eugene Turner was born on June 19, 1931 in Clinton, Iowa. He married Joan Cottral on April 21, 1957 in Clinton, Iowa.
Jerry served in the United States Army’s 350th Infantry from 1948-1954.
Jerry was employed with Clinton Corn /ADM for over 39 years in the warehouse until retiring in 1993.
Jerry was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Clinton County Historical Society. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren especially attending their activities and being involved with their interests.
Jerry is survived by his wife: Joan of Clinton; three sons: Craig (Sheri) Turner, of Russellville, Arkansas, Brad (Amy) Turner of Drexel, Missouri, and Scott (Melisa) Turner, of Prophetstown, Illinois, and 7 grandchildren.
Jerry is preceded in death by his mother: Florence Turner.
Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, the Clinton County Historical Society or the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Iowa City.
