Edith M. Jeffrey, 97, of Clinton, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Mercy Living Center, South. Services will be at Noon Friday, December 31, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, Clinton. Visitation will be from 10am until the service hour Friday at the Church. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Jeffrey, Chris Lawrence, Ryan Clausen, Brent Clausen, Dick Krogman and Wayne Higgins. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
Edith was born September 29, 1913 in Wyoming, IA, the daughter of William M. and Mabel (Conley) Morse. She married Edmund C. Jeffrey on January 28, 1933 in Sycamore, Illinois; he died April 20, 1991.
Edith was a homemaker; she graduated from Wyoming, Iowa High School in 1930. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Women of the Moose and was a former member of the I Club. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed knitting and needlework. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of two children, Sharon (Fred, deceased) Sloane of Camanche, Iowa and Gary (deceased) and daughter-in-law, JoAnn Jeffrey of DeWitt, Iowa; four grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Clausen of Clinton, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Sloane of Camanche, Chad (Diana) Jeffrey of Cedar Rapids and Kelly (Chris) Lawrence of DeWitt; 10 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Brent Clausen, Tyler, Brady, Mason and Madison Lawrence, Madison and Maci Sloan and Hunter and Lindzey Jeffrey. In addition to her husband, son and son-in-law she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Mercy Living Center South or a favorite charity.
