The Clinton Herald Wednesday October 8, 1997 p.9 Peter G. Hass, 82, of Miles, died Tuesday at Samaritan North. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Miles Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William LeMosy officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Preston, where a 7:30 p.m. Bellevue Masonic Lodge services will be conducted. Burial will be in Miles, where the MIles American Legion will conduct graveside military services. Pallbearers will be Wayne Daniels, Rodney Wilsoni, Delbert Christiansen, Otto Bruhn, Logan Cram and John Boothby. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Keel, Bill Carter, Jack Boothby and Tilbert Hatteberg. He was born June 22, 1915, near Miles, to Peter and Anna Ingwersen Hass. He married Shirley Schoening, Oct. 12, 1952. He received his education in the Miles schools. He was a combat veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He operated Hass Bros. Oil Company with his brother, Marvin, from 1946 to 1979. He was a life-member of the Miles American Legion, where he was a past commander. During a convention of the National American Legion, he had the honor of serving as national sergeant of arms. Also he was a member of the Past National Sergeant of Arms Club. He was a member of the Miles/Sabula VFW, the Bellevue Lodge, Clinton Consistory, Kaaba Shrine, and the Clinton Chapter Order of Eastern Star. He was a former Miles fireman. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Andrea (William) Louins of Coral Springs, Fla., and Bettina Hass of Iowa City; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers. Death date: Oct. 7, 1997.
