Clinton, Iowa - Wanda Eickert age 80 of Clinton, died Thursday Sept. 30, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Monday at the Pape Funeral Home, with Dennis Glew officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday 2:00 – 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Steve Larkin, Kerry Wilkerson, Peter Holmes, Mark Eickert, Bob Krajnovich, Carl Jo Sparlin. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Wanda was born on Oct. 7, 1929 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of William and Olive (Sprague) Sparlin. She married Virgil Eickert on Dec. 29, 1961 in Rock Island, IL. She worked at Clinton Garment Factory as a press operator. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Wanda enjoyed attending her grandchildrens' sporting events, playing cards, gambling, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Virgil of Clinton; four children, Dawn Eickert of Clinton, Virgil “Herm” (Rachel) Eickert of Ames, IA, Dr. Fred Eickert of West Union, IA, and Shawn (Nikki) Eickert of Clinton; two step children, Diane (Ron) Holmes of Clinton and Steve Eickert of Denali, AK; seven grandchildren, Peter, Becky, Dillon, Seth, Reece, Danika, and Delaney; seven grand dogs, Dash, Scout, Rocko, Blamo, Blade, Max, and Shelby; two sisters, Ruby Martin and Marcella Sparlin both of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Tammy in 1962, three brothers, Carl, William, Robert, and three sisters, Juanita, Laura, and Harvyetta.
