Clinton Herald Tuesday August 1, 1978 page 9 Miss Winifred A. Murphy, 91, of the Clinton County Care Facility, died Monday morning at Wyndcrest Nursing Home.
A funeral mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Ireaeus Church with Rev. Richard Von Ah officiating. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation at Pape Funeral Home will be Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
She was born Jan. 3, 1887, in Lyons, to James and Bridget Lynch Murphy. She was a member of St. Irenaeus Church. Miss Murphy graduated from Our Lady of Angels Academy in Lyons in 1904 and attended nurses training at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Sioux City in 1911. She graduated in 1914 and was a private nurse until 1928.
She was then employed by the Clinton Daily Advertiser and later by the Clinton Herald. in 1938, she became a medical records librarian at Mercy Hospital in Clinton, retiring in 1960.
She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceeded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
