Shirley Violet Schaefer, 75, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 24, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lemke Funeral Home – North Chapel, 2304 N. 2nd Street, with the Pastor Dennis Glew officiating.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Lemke Funeral Home – North Chapel.

Shirley was born December 13, 1934, in Clinton to Alfred J. and Florence (Shawver) Manning.

She attended Clinton High School and graduated in 1952. Shirley then attended college for two years.

She loved to play the piano, travel, spending time with her grandchildren and attending 1st United Methodist Church. Shirley worked as a secretary for GE, AC Nielsen and PFC.

Survivors include her husband, Bob of Clinton; 1 daughter, Tamara (Mack) Smith of Chicago, IL; 2 sons, Lance (Susan) Schaefer, Guersey, IA; and Darrin (Julie) Schaefer, Onslow, IA; 6 grandchildren, Jacob, Emily and Katie Schaefer; Karley and Karstin Schaefer; and Garrot Smith; her niece Lynn Kay Morway of Ohio and her nephew Duane Loehrl of Wisconsin.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials can be made to the 1st United Methodist Church.
