Arthur "Stu" Petersen

Arthur Stuart “Stu” Petersen, 91, of Clinton, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Bickford Cottage, Clinton.

A private family service will be held. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Stuart Petersen was born on August 26, 1918 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Arthur E. and Ila (Dorathy) Petersen. He married Geraldine D. Hansen on August 31, 1940 in Clinton. She died January 16, 2009.

Stu was a 1936 graduate of Clinton High School. He later served in the United States Army during World War II on a Seamen landing craft in the Western Pacific.

He was a pipefitter and maintenance foreman at DuPont, retiring after 38 years. He was earlier employed with Curtis Company.

Stu was a member of Lyons United Methodist Church and a former member of the Fulton Country Club. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by one son: William Petersen of Clinton; three daughters: Donna (Jim) Bingham of Las Vegas, Nevada, Carole (Tom) Junginger of Dubuque, Iowa, and Roberta (Albert) Perreault of Blue Grass, Iowa; six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Stu was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one granddaughter, and four brothers.

Memorials may be made to Lyons United Methodist Church in care of Snell-Zornig.
