Betty L. Lee, 88, of Clinton died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Alverno Healthcare Facility. Funeral services will be 12:00pm Friday, May 28, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clinton. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00am until the service hour at the church. Cremation will follow the funeral services. Inurnment will take place at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery mausoleum at a later date.

Betty Louise Lawrenz was born on July 12, 1921 in Clinton, the daughter of Otto and Maude (Rasmussen) Lawrenz. She was a 1939 graduate of Clinton High School and a 1941 graduate of Mount Saint Claire College in Clinton. She later received her bachelor’s degree from Marycrest College in Davenport in the 1980’s. She married Russell Lee on November 11, 1942 in Clinton; he died on September 4, 1989.

She was a 3rd and 4th grade teacher for over 26 years, teaching in rural Whiteside County schools, Fulton, IL, and Chillicothe, IL.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a past member of the MEA, IEA, Wa Tan Ye, and the former Dorcus Circle at the church.

She is survived by one daughter, Nita Lee of Iowa City, IA; one son, Jonathan (Betsy) Lee of Camanche; one grandson, Ryan Lee of Camanche; two step grandsons, Nate Mallinger of Holmen, WI and Jeff Mallinger of Ogdon, IA, one great granddaughter Chloe Lee, and one niece, Beverly Erickson of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Nita Pauline.
