Clinton - Ila Jean Thomsen, 92, of Clinton died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, May 24th at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the service time Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals or Prince of Peace Parish. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Ila was born in Zwingle, Iowa on February 25, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Nellie Feeney Slattery. She graduated from Our Lady of Angels Academy in 1935. Ila married Clifford Thomsen on May 10, 1941 in Clinton. Clifford died on November 19, 1966. Ila had worked with E.I. Dupont, Burpee Seed Company and A.C. Nielsen Company from where she retired. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the D.C.C.W. She was a devoted grandmother who enjoyed playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune and following the Cubs, Hawkeye basketball and the Camanche Indians sporting teams.

Ila is survived by her daughter, Marcia Svenson of Camanche; two grandchildren, Jason and Katy; a sister, Monica Ries of Clinton; a brother, Ray (Jeanette) Slattery of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Helen Thomsen of Clinton and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, Deborah; her son-in-law, Jerry Svenson, three sisters, Faustina Bassler, Dorothy Keeney and Marian Lyons and two brothers, William and Donald Slattery.
