Mary Bertine Trimble

Mary Bertine Trimble, 88, of Clinton, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Alverno. Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Mary Bertine Trimble was born to Leo and Marie (Hand) Ryan on January 2, 1922, Welton, Iowa. Bertine is predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob), son, Richard (Rick), her parents, her sister, Catherine Garrity, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. As a young adult, Bertine worked as a dental assistant in DeWitt, and graduated in 1947, from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Clinton, Iowa. On October 4, 1947, married Robert P. Trimble, Long Grove, Iowa. Married for nearly 57 years until the death of her husband, Bertine was a devoted homemaker, well known for her homemade breads. Together with her husband, Bob, they raised nine children and were blessed with eighteen grandchildren. Bertine enjoyed her early years camping and boating on the Mississippi River, many winters in Brownsville, Texas, several years in Perryville, Missouri, and recent years home among family in Clinton. Bertine is survived by children: Patricia Trimble, Kathy (Dave) Lawrence, Jim (Sally) Trimble and Ray Trimble of Clinton; Priscilla (Mark) Babler of Illinois; Ed (Bobbye) Trimble of Virginia; Bob (Lisa) Trimble of Arizona; Jane (John) Wilkinson of Maryland; eighteen grandchildren; numerous nieces , nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. Our deepest gratitude to all the loving hands and hearts at the Alverno and Genesis Hospice. Thank you! In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or The Alverno.
