Clinton, IA - Grace K. Nippers age 89 of Clinton died Monday May 17, 2010 at West Wing Place in Dewitt. Funeral services will be held Friday 1:00 pm at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday 11:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Robert J. Harrington, Ian Yoder, Robert McClelland III, Vince Nippers, Allen Duermeyer, and Tony Hatfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Nicolaysen, Lane Harrington, Devon Bruner, Curtis Hatfield, Timothy Duermeyer, Kristopher Bebensee.

Grace was born on July 26, 1920 in Viola, TN, the daughter of Jessie J. and Minnie (Swearingin) O’Connar. She married James Nippers on Dec. 24, 1938 in Moore County, TN, he died in 1994. Grace was a homemaker and had worked as a factory laborer. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, canning, baking, and spending time with her family.

Grace is survived by her six daughters, Sarah (Eymard Jr.) Wanzek of Dewitt, Rachel McClelland of Mesquite, TX, Carolyn Nance of Gray, KY, Dorothy Champion of Clinton, Beatrice Hildebrandt of Clinton, and Mildre (Howard) LaRue of Mayfield, KY; two sons, James E. Nippers of Chariton, IA and Ronnie Nippers of Shelbyville, TN; 25 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and 23 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Stetson of Clinton.
