William J. "Bill" Zaiser - 94
1/30/1916 - 5/11/2010Bettendorf, IA, formerly of Clinton - William J. “Bill” Zaiser age 94 of Bettendorf, formerly of Clinton, died Tuesday May 11, 2010 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facilities in Bettendorf. According to family wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Memorial services will be held Friday 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton. The family will greet visitors on Friday 9:30 am until the service hour at the church. Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Inurnment will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Clinton or Iowa Masonic Home, Special Unit in Bettendorf.
Bill was born on Jan. 30, 1916 in Hartley, Iowa, the son of Peter and Veva (Haye) Zaiser. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1935. He served as a pharmacists mate with US Navy during WWII from 1942-1945. He married Doloris Claussen on Aug. 2, 1941 in Clinton, she died in 1992. Bill worked as a manager for Eclipse Lumber Company in Clinton for many years.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, active with S.C.O.R.E., and enjoyed golfing. He was a life member of Clinton Kiwanis Club, where he was past president and served on the Clinton Community College Board. Bill was a 50 yr. member of Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies and Fulton City Masonic Lodge #189.Bill is survived by his daughter, Mauri (Bruce) Johnson of Davenport, IA; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Leo) McGarry of Dewitt; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, and Claire; a sister, Lois Claussen of Edina, MN; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, and an infant brother. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
