Clinton - Nellie Marie Tieso age 78 of Clinton passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Pape Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 5th at Scared Heart Chapel with the Rev. Thom Hennen officiating.

Nellie was born on February 1, 1932 in Clinton, the daughter of Harold and Pearl Montgomery McKenna. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1948. Nellie married Guillermo “Bill” Tieso on July 27, 1955 in Davenport. Nellie had been employed with Northwestern Bell, Woolworth’s, Burpee Seed and the Department of Human Services. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. Nellie loved being a mom and taking care of her family. She enjoyed traveling, eating out at Mexican restaurants, especially Manny’s in Savanna, and going to the casino.

Nellie is survived by her husband, Bill; six children, Mary (Bruce) Johnson of West Chicago, Bill (Cheryl) Tieso, Alicia (Paul) Hansen, Ramon (Christine) Tieso, Dolores (Mark) Watts and James Tieso all of Clinton; 15 grandchildren, Jennifer, Mike, David, Joe, Jerome, Anderea, Brandi, Kristopher, Amanda, Chris, Ian, Justin, Andrew, Nicole and Crystal; seven great grandchildren, Taylor, Cameron, Wyatt, Tori, Allison, Zoey and Gabriella; three sisters, Genevieve Schwarz, Virginia Leu and Donna (Don) Waddell all of Clinton and a brother, Tom (Dolores) McKenna of Iowa. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a grand daughter. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
