John E. Kucera

John E. Kucera, 80, of Camanche, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at his home.

There will be no services or visitation. The Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

John Edward Kucera was born on August 18, 1929 in Clinton, Iowa the son of George and Hildagarde (Schultz) Kucera. He married Marian Jean Salzer on May 24, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

John was a 1947 graduate of Clinton High School where he participated in track. He later enlisted in the United States Army.

John was employed at DuPont for many years.

John’s favorite passion was fishing and he was a renowned walleye fisherman on the Mississippi River. During the last years of his life he enjoyed taking trips along the river with his good friend Jerry Mensinger of Camanche.

John is survived by his son: Rick Kucera and his fiancé Terry Johnson of Louisville, Colorado; one granddaughter: Tania Kingsrud and one great-granddaughter: Ella Jayne Kingsrud both of Hollywood, California; and one niece Mary Kucera of Lowden, Iowa.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son: Cameron in 1994 and a brother: Robert.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Clinton Humane Society.
