(September 10, 1922 - January 27, 2010)

Mrs. Irene E. Yocum, 87, McCausland, died Wednesday afternoon, January 27, 2010 at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Mrs. Yocum was born September 10, 1922 in Davenport to William and Alvina (Giese) Gosch. She married Samuel Yocum, March 18, 1951 in Davenport. Irene worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 27 years, retiring in 1979 as a Supply Clerk.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, McCausland, and the National Association of Retried Federal Employees.

Surviving are daughters, Joyce (Jack) Nelson, DeWitt and Pam Yocum, Bettendorf; sons, Jon (Susan) Yocum, Davenport, Dale Yocum, McCausland, and Larry (Mitzi) Yocum, Tipton; a daughter-in-law, Pam Yocum, Long Grove; grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel, a son, Richard on November 24, 2009, her parents, a brother, William, and sisters, Florence Soukop, Bernice Wulf, and Elna Hansen.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, and from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at the United Methodist Church, McCausland. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, in the Church. Pastor Ruth Ann Scott will officiate with burial in the McCausland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Church or Westwing Place.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Nelson, Kyle Yocum, Mike Gosch, Doug Gosch, Lloyd Claussen and Steve Scull. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Nelson, Kayla Yocum, Jessicah Yocum, and Alexis Yocum
