Edna Mae McManus
(January 29, 1923 - April 22, 2010)

Edna Mae (Mrs. Gene) McManus, 87, DeWitt, died Thursday morning, April 22, 2010 at Amber Ridge Assisted Living, DeWitt.
Mrs. McManus, the former Edna Mae Cooper was born January 29, 1923 in rural Clinton County, near Welton, Iowa. She graduated from Welton High School in 1941. Edna was united in marriage to Eugene "Gene" McManus, November 16, 1942 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Edna and Gene spent over 65 happy years of marriage. The couple resided in DeWitt where they raised their family.

She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Parish, DeWitt, and the Altar and Rosary Soceity. Edna served on the Board of Directors of the DeWitt Referral Center for several years and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved crocheting as well as playing the piano and singing.

Surviving are her children, Vicky (Duane) Poell, DeWitt, Judy (David) Sackett, Delmar, Janet Campbell, DeWitt, Richard (Barbara) McManus, Florida, and Roberta (H.C.) Peters, Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Mary Kay McManus, DeWitt; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

Preceding Edna in death were her husband, Gene on August 9, 2008, a son Mike on June 1, 2009, a grandson, Gabe McManus, her parents and sisters, Ella Hunter and Gladys Vavroch.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010 with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 in the Church with the Rev. Fr. Paul Connolly presiding. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.
