DeWitt — Gertrude Green, 100, DeWitt, died Tuesday morning, April 6, 2010, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Mrs. Green was born August 10, 1909, in Clinton County to George and Mary (McMahon) Feldpausch. Gertrude graduated from St. Joseph High School and went to nurses’s training at Mercy Hospital, Clinton. Prior to her marriage, Gertrude did home care as a registered nurse. On April 24, 1934, Gertrude was united in marriage to William H. Green at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The couple farmed in the Grand Mound and DeWitt areas for many years. Upon retirement in 1973, they moved to DeWitt. They continued to be active in Green’s Livestock Auction. Bill preceded Gertrude in death, May 4, 1995.

Gertrude was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Parish, DeWitt. She was active in 4-H as a leader and enjoyed cake decorating, gardening, sewing and crocheting.

Surviving are a daughter, Camilla Naftzger, Erie, Illinois; grandchildren, Lisa (Joe) Naftzger-Kang, Kevin Naftzger, Steven (Susie) Naftzger, Christine (Bill) Berge, Keith (Tina) Naftzger, Alan Naftzger, Angela (Ed Singleterry) Green, Jason Green and Megan (Niclas) Dreyer; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Gertrude in death in addition to her husband, were a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sharon (Crowley) Green; a son-in-law, Rolland Naftzger; a sister, Cecelia Feldpausch; and two brothers, Ralph and Raphael Feldpausch.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. The liturgy of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, in St. Jospeh Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Fr. Paul Conolly will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Naftzger, Steve Naftzger, Keith Naftzger, Alan Naftzger, Jason Green, Bill Berge, Joe Kang, Nic Dreyer and Ed Singleterry. Honorary pallbearers will be Lisa Naftzger, Christine Berge, Angela Green, Megan Green-Dreyer, Tina Naftzger and Susie Naftzger.
