CLINTON — Ruth M. McGinty, 84, of Clinton, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at home. There will be no visitation as cremation rites will be accorded, celebration of life service will be held at a later date at the Evangelical Free Church in Clinton. Mercy Home Care and Hospice of Clinton and Cremation Society of Eastern Central Western Iowa are assisting the family.

Ruth Marian (Donald) McGinty was born December 26, 1925, to Charles and Amy Devore Doty in Princeton, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Donald E. McGinty on April 6, 1947, in Mendota, Illinois. Ruth graduated from Princeton High School, going on to graduate from the Cadet Nurses Training Core at Dixon Public Hospital in January 1947. Ruth worked as a private duty nurse, also worked 15 years as a surgical nurse at Clinton Mercy Hospital retiring in 1980.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and a son, Dr. Dean L. McGinty of Portland, Oregon. She is survived by husband, Donald E. McGinty; son, Duane McGinty of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Katherine Dietrich of Valley City, North Dakota; daughter-in-law, Christy McGinty of Portland, Oregon; brother, Charles Doty of Princeton, Illinois; sister, Edna Reebe of Arizona; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Clinton Evangelical Free Church or the family.
