CLINTON — Clinton Perkins Blandford Sr. died from complications of Parkinson’s disease on March 22, 2010, at The Summit in Lakeway, Texas, where he was a resident.

He was born on August 17, 1915, to Raymond and Mary Blandford in Buffalo, NY. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betsy, on May 22, 2005. And also by his parents; two brothers, Russell and Raymond; in-laws, Norbert Bossen and Harmon and Leila Gilbert of Clinton.

He is survived by a daughter, Libby Raach of Austin, TX, and his son, Clinton Blandford Jr. (Susan) of St. Louis, MO. Also 5 grandchildren: John Raach (Amber), Michael Raach, Sarah Lambie (Scott), Andrew Blandford and Janet Lukens (Graham). Additionally, three great-grandsons, Andrew and Noah Lambie and Cory Raach. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Margie Bossen of Clinton. Also, nieces Linda Kunkel, Beth Haufe, Marcia Hoener; and one nephew, Drew Bossen plus their families.

Mr. Blandford graduated from Lafayette High School in Buffalo, NY, in 1935 where he was a member of the West Side Rowing Club. Rowing in the Henley Regatta highlighted his rowing career. Mr. Blandford was a production supervisor for the Bridgeport Brass Company in both Bridgeport, CT, and in Indianapolis, IN, where he met his wife. After the war, they relocated in Clinton where he owned and operated laundry/dry cleaning operations from 1945 until he closed the ABC Dry Cleaners in 1989.

His community involvement included multiple terms on the Vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Clinton Traffic Commission in the 70’s and 80’s, and supporting the Clinton Little League. The Blandfords also sponsored two Clinton High School exchange students, Jan Rolland in 62-63 and Thuy Van (Annie) Nguyen in 64-65.

Graveside services will be held at Clinton Lawn Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care given to Mr. Blandford by the nurses, caregivers and staff at The Alverno from March 2003- June 2006. And also to the staff of The Summit in Lakeway, Texas, and Heart to Heart Hospice.

The family requests that memorials be made to The Alverno, Christ Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
