CLINTON — CLINTON — Virginia Luciann (Rixen) Mether, age 75, of Clinton died Monday, March 15, 2010, at her home.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 18th, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Fulton, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17th, at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton where a vigil service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.

Virginia was born in Clinton, Iowa, on July 15, 1934, the daughter of Earl and Regina McDermott Rixen. She attended Lyons High School. Virginia married Robert Hagge. She later married Lloyd Mether on April 18, 1975, in Rock Island, IL.

Virginia was employed with J.C. Penney, International Paper and later with Airco. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Fulton. Virginia enjoyed snowmobiling, painting, crocheting and traveling.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Lloyd; four daughters, Louann C. (Anthony) McNamara of Boulder, CO, Jeanann R. (James) Bailey of Cedar Rapids, Marcia G. (Terry) Gertson of Putnam Station, NY and Sharon (James) Peart of Clinton; four step-children, Bryon (Sue) Mether of Peoria, IL, Linda (Dean) Martin of Maquoketa, Gordon (Tari) Mether of Naples, FL and Bart Mether of Plover, WI; three grandchildren, Sam, Jaclyne and Diane; two great-grandsons; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and a sister, Genevieve Petersen of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Frank and a sister Catherine. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
