CLINTON — MOUNT CARROLL, Ill. — Mildred E. Shellhause, age 86, of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, Illinois.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Mount Carroll Church of God, Mount Carroll. Burial will take place in the Oakhill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice or the American Cancer Society in Mildred’s memory. Online condolences may also be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.

Mildred was born on May 10, 1923, the daughter of Oliver and Ruth (Bloyer) Heisler in Lanark, Illinois. She attended and graduated from the Mount Carroll High School with the Class of 1941. Mildred was married to William Pauley and later to Roy Shellhause.

Mildred was a line worker and a truck driver for the Eaton Corporation in Savanna, Illinois for twenty years. She also drove a school bus for the Mount Carroll School District. Mildred was a former member of the Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren, Lanark, Illinois and was most recently a member of the Mount Carroll Church of God, Mount Carroll. She enjoyed collecting rocks, creating crafts and building new inventions. Mildred loved to fix and tinker with things. She also enjoyed flowers and caring for birds and animals.

Mildred is survived by her two sons, Donald (Merrie Jo) Pauley of Thomson, Illinois and James (Elaine) Pauley of Rock Springs, Wisconsin; one stepson, Wayne Shellhause of Rock Island, Illinois; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Alan Heisler of Mount Carroll.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Ruth; husbands, William Pauley and Roy Shellhause; and sister, Rosemary Imel.
